The Hawkins Pictorial Survey of Cole Clocks in Two Parts
Fifty years ago, I wrote and self-published Thomas Cole & Victorian Clockmaking, a book that placed this important designer and clockmaker under the horological spotlight. The resulting recognition has seen the history of Thomas and his talented family explored through the emergence onto the market of many undocumented, clocks that provide for a broader and more interesting glimpse into their family and their creativity. Now, thanks to the scope of the world wide web I can attempt to sequence and interpret these discoveries in this my Hawkins Pictorial Survey of Cole Clocks, which is placed here for anybody to use in the interests of expanding the subject over the years.
